The Maine Fiddlehead Festival and Local Food Day, now in its 3rd year, celebrates the abundance of locally grown and locally growing foods in the Franklin County area of Maine. The 2014 festival will again be located primarily on the grounds of the Emery Arts Center at the University of Maine Farmington. This FREE festival includes a parade featuring antique tractors; local food vendors, supervised children's activities, cooking demonstrations, live music, and "Tent Talks" - a number of hands-on demonstrations and presentations on various topics relating to farmed and wild-harvested foods: how to find and prepare fiddleheads, how to make sauerkraut, identifying wild mushrooms, making cheese, and managing your compost pile are just a few examples! The Festival also involves downtown businesses and restaurants in offering specials to help celebrate fiddleheads, food and fun in Franklin County Maine.
